General info:

Tokyo Skytree was finished in 2012 at 634 meters high making it the tallest structure in Japan, tallest tower in the world, and the second tallest structure in the world after Burj Khalifa. That is impressive. And as it is impressive, the Japanese wanted to make everything out of the spectacularity of the tower and in fact built a small town around the Skytree tower, called the Skytree Town. Skytree Town's sprawling entertainment complex covers several city blocks. Shops, restaurants, an aquarium, a planetarium and, of course, the tower itself. The town pulled in 16.66 million visitors in the 100 days after opening in May 2012 and is still averaging over 150 000 visitors per day so you could expect some crowds. The best part of it is however the tower itself and especially the observatory deck called Tembo Deck. The views are rather spectacular from the 350-meter high Tembo Deck but during daytime and especially on a bad weather they can be hazy. So it is not a bad idea to go up during sunset and evening, when Tokyo sparkles across the Kanto Plain and the lights on the bridges shine over the bay. The Tembo Deck consists of three levels, including a café, sit-down restaurants and souvenir shops and can hold around 2,000 people at a time. It is worth noting is that restaurant 634 is usually booked solid a month in advance. You can get even higher than the Tembo Deck by purchasing tickets to the Tembo Galleria at 450 meters. After the elevator, you will walk there via a glass tube which lets you believe that you are walking in the sky.
