Location
Porto Pollo is the best spot in Sardinia for watersports like windsurfing and kitesurfing. Conditions are fantastic for beginners and intermediates, with long downwind runs and butter-flat water but also ideal for a more experienced freestyler. With white sandy beaches and crystal clear water, this is a great base for watersports as it is also within 45 minutes of a wealth of other local spots including a little surf break.
The huge sandy bay is split in two by a sandy peninsula, which only adds to the kitesurfing opportunities. This spot works in many wind directions with the most predominant being a north westerly. Some westerly winds can be a little gusty due to an upwind land shadow. The best months to visit are January to August, although May can be a funny month with lighter winds!
A lot of courses and rental equipment is available for those willing to try it out or left own equpment home. The town is also great for exploring, culture, food, socialising, island touring, and much more.
Easiest to arrive by own car, or walk from Porto Pollo village. There are several parking lots in the area with easy access to the beach.
The beach is free of charge. A beginner course to windsurfing with two 90min lessons and 1 hour equipment rental is 90€.
