The Navy Pier is a 1,010 m long pier on the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan, built in 1916. Its primary purpose was as a cargo facility for lake freighters, and warehouses were built up and down the Pier.

Today, Navy Pier is Chicago's number one attraction offering sightseeing tours, dinner cruises on the ships the Spirit of Chicago, The Odyssey II and the Mystic Blue. The fireworks show takes place on Wednesday and Saturday nights during the summer and Saturday nights during the fall. There is also a shopping area and a Children Museum or musical carousel for children.

The popular Strictly Sail boat show and Chicago Flower and Garden Show are also held at the Pier as well as many other fairs and expositions throughout the year.

Getting there: 

The CTA provides five bus lines with more than 200 buses serving Navy Pier daily. These are #29 State St, #65 Grand Ave, #66 Chicago Ave, #2 Hyde Park Express (during weekday rush hours only), and the #124 Navy Pier (serving METRA lines, Millennium Park/Randolph St., Ogilvie and Union Stations). All buses are equipped with bike racks and are ADA accessible.

Navy Pier is open year-round and general operating hours vary depending on the seasons and may be subject to change. Regular Navy Pier operating hours apply to most merchants, including all retail shops and food court eateries.

Hidden Valley is a four-season resort with 700 vertical feet. It has 28 runs covering 140 skiable acres serviced by one quad, two triples, three doubles and two surface lifts and four handled tows.
