General info:

A splendid mixture of architectural styles, Westminster Abbey is considered the finest example of Early English Gothic (1190–1300).

It is one of the most notable religious buildings in the United Kingdom and is the traditional place of coronation and burial site for English and, later, British monarchs. Every monarch since William the Conqueror has been crowned here, with the exception of a couple of unlucky Eds who were either murdered (Edward V) or abdicated (Edward VIII) before the magic moment.

Every year Westminster Abbey welcomes over one million visitors who want to explore this wonderful 700-year-old building. Once inside audio guides are available in eight languages or there is the highly-popular verger-led tour.

Getting there:

Westminster Abbey is usually open to visitors from Monday to Saturday throughout the year. On Sundays and religious holidays such as Easter and Christmas, the Abbey is open for worship only.
