Since the opening in the mid-19th century, the Vondelpark has become the leisure hotspot for the Amsterdam citizens. Recently the number of visitors has grown to more than 10 million per year. Here you will find dozens of playgrounds for kids, basketball, football, and tennis courses, and open air theatres which host many artists famous not just in Holland, but in the whole world.

Places in the Vondelpark that are worth visited from the tourist point of view are The Fish, sculpture made by Pablo Picasso. A futuristic building of the cinematic museum ‘Filmmuseum’ stands near the park lake and attracts visitors not only because of its impressive design, but for a collection of national and world movies that are preserved there for the future generations.
