The town is located in a sunny position on the alluvial cone of the Rio de Vael and is the seat of the 'Institute for the Ladin Culture'. In winter, the Ciampedie is a very renowned ski-area with an amazing viewpoint all over the Dolomites. Moreover, a ski bus service connects Vigo di Fassa to the other villages and ski areas of the valley. Vigo di Fassa can give accommodation to more than 2.000 people, subdivided among 41 hotels, and further 2800 beds are at the guests' disposal in furnished flats and lodging houses.
