Rising head and shoulders above the Central North Island, Turoa boasts the largest vertical drop in Australiasia; no wonder they call Turoa private://The Giant.private:// The south facing slope gets plenty of dry powder during the season making Turoa a perfect alpine playground for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. After a day of challenging black runs, finding the secret powder stashes, and going big in the natural halfpipe, Turoa's visitors and locals head down the mountain to Ohakune to dine, relax and re-live the day's adventures.

Mt. Cheeseman is a southeasterly facing bowl. It is made up of two halves, the groomed piste and the ungroomed that has Mt Cockayne at the top and Powder Valley.

Manganui Ski Field

Manganui is located on the slopes of Mt. Egmont and is maintained by the Stratford Mountain Club. Access to the ski area is from a sealed road through Beach Forest.

Fairmont Hot Springs

Just over 2 hours from Christchurch, it could be another world away. Hanmer Springs Ski Area is situated on Mt. St. Patrick, and is an easy 40 minutes drive from the alpine thermal holiday resort of Hanmer Springs.

Cardrona Alpine Resort

Cardrona Alpine Resort is situated high on the mountains between Wanaka (33km) and Queenstown (57km) on the South Island of New Zealand.

Broken River Ski Area

Broken River is run and maintained by the Broken River Ski Club. It offers an alternative to skiers and snowboarders who are looking to experience back to basics fun in the snow. Broken River is a 1.5 hour drive from Christchurch.
