Temple Basin is located on the Main Divide of the Southern Alps at the heart of Arthur's Pass National Park. It faces north-west and offers long sunny days over 320 hectares of skiable terrain with a vertical drop of 430 meters. The car park is located beside State Highway 73 and is a 45 minute walk in good conditions from the ski field.

Mt. Cheeseman is a southeasterly facing bowl. It is made up of two halves, the groomed piste and the ungroomed that has Mt Cockayne at the top and Powder Valley.

Manganui is located on the slopes of Mt. Egmont and is maintained by the Stratford Mountain Club. Access to the ski area is from a sealed road through Beach Forest.

Just over 2 hours from Christchurch, it could be another world away. Hanmer Springs Ski Area is situated on Mt. St. Patrick, and is an easy 40 minutes drive from the alpine thermal holiday resort of Hanmer Springs.
