Today, The Speicherstadt holds ground for museum exhibitions that attract thousands of visitors. The biggest attraction is Miniatur Wunderland, a model railway museum. Hamburg Dungeon that shows evidences of the city’s darker times and the Afghan Museum, a private-owned Afghanistan-themed museum, are parts of The Speicherstadt district.

Built at the turn of the last century, it constitutes an important Hamburg landmark and is one of the main attractions of the harbor boat trips. The architectural details, narrow canals and the romantic Wilhelmine Gothic style constructions convey an idyllic atmosphere.
