Situated close to the Ecrins national park, the Serre Chevalier valley is made up of Briançon (a world heritage city declared by UNESCO) and 3 other villages Saint-Chaffrey/Chantemerle, Villeneuve / La Salle les Alpes and Monetier Les Bains. With 250 km of marked ski pistes the Serre Chevalier Valley is the no.1 non-linked ski area in France. There are ski slopes suitable for all snow sports, skiing through either the large natural gulley's or exploring the huge larch forests. The high alpine area is renowned for its off-piste and every aspect of this ski resort give the town a sporty and fun reputation. There different zones in the ski area where skiers can learn about the various dangers in the mountains. The Arva Park allows budding off-piste skiers a training area for the use of avalanche transceivers. It's worth a note that in Serre Chevalier the ski runs are left in their raw state after a snowfall. There is minimal grooming of the snow, allowing powder skiers to make the most of their day in safe and natural conditions. A true taste of the backcountry. Finally, there is an area which is dedicated to snowboarding, friendly and safe, its right in the middle of the ski area, between the snow park and the border cross course. Serre Chevalier Valley also has a wellness centre, Les Grands Bains, a 4500m2 expanse dedicated to ‘relaxation' and aesthetics. Alpine ski, surf, telemark... all typ of slides. Savoie Grand Revard has 50 km of alpine tracks and surf in forest. A good ski area for beginner skiers and surfers and for family and friends.

The Planai and Hochwurzen are the main entrance to the mountain ski region of Schladming connecting four ski resorts with 115 km of slopes and 52 cable car systems.
