General info:

Ramona Falls drops 120 feet, cascading and splitting into ever smaller drapes broken up by the hexagonal columns of basalt at the base of the cliff. The special shape of the columnar basalt was formed in a lava eruption.

There is an 11,7km long loop trail to the falls. The south leg of the loop is less scenic but the north leg after the falls really enjoyable following the lush, green path of Ramona Creek and skirting towering cliffs before veering south to head back towards the trailhead.

Getting there:

There is an 11,7km long loop trail to the falls. The trail is moderate difficulty and takes about half a day to hike (4-6 hours). The trailhead is at the end of Muddy Fork Road and features a big gravel parking area.

NOTE: Not recommended to hike this trail during winter because a critical, temporary bridge early in the trail is removed each winter.

Great Divide

The prices are the big reason to ski at Great Divide, because they are always far less than their bigger competitors. The snow is well-managed and there is a 1,330 vertical drop.

Grouse Mountain

The hills are made for thrills at Grouse Mountain. Try their most famous run -The Cut. Be sure to check out the spectacular vistas. They have two high-speed detachable quads.

Fernie Alpine

The ski area is three miles from the town of Fernie in southeastern British Columbia on the west side of the Canadian Rockies.

Cypress Mountain

Cypress is composed of two mountains on Vancouver's north shore of Mt. Strachan and Black Mountain. It can be reached by public transportation. The varied terrain works for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

Diamond Peak

Diamond Peak has a vertical drop of 1,840 feet with a high base and summit elevation that captures plenty of snow. It is located at Incline Village on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.

Discovery Ski Area

This is another one of those undiscovered areas with excellent pricing, but snow that is seldom in real abundance. But, when it is, Discovery can make for some of the best riding in the state. The vertical is 1,670.
