The Oberwiesenthal - Fichtelberg area, an attractive and unique area, favourably situated as regards transport facilities in the midst of Germany, offers a natural and varied countryside. There are only few areas in Europe left which are as unspoilt and tree-covered as the Fichtelgebirge which is also largely closed for traffic. Tourism has a long tradition here.
