Notre Dame is considered to be one of the finest examples of Gothic art and architecture in the world. Apart from its grandiose structure, the cathedral is also celebrated for its extensive collection of relics.

The Notre Dame has been an important part of Paris’ history since the day the construction began in 1163. The works were finished almost two centuries later, when this building became one of the most important in the Christian world. In that period the Notre Dame was a contemporary wonders and still today it is a remarkable sight.

The collection of religious items in the cathedral is massive, but the most famous ones are the original (as the church officials claim) Crown of Thorns, a part of the True Cross, and a Holy Nail.

Getting there: 

The Notre Dame is located on a river island in the middle of the Paris’ 4th district. The exact address is 6 Parvis Notre-Dame, Place Jean-Paul II. You can get there easiest by walking from metro stations ‘Saint-Michel - Notre-Dame’, or ‘Cité’.

Costs: 

The entrance to the cathedral is free of charge for everyone during the opening hours (8:00AM - 6:45PM).

Alagna is connected to Gressoney off slopes and then you should came back with the gondola. The slope that connects to Alagna will be finished next summer. Moreover you can go to Gressoney by a new gondola.
