Mt. Cheeseman is a southeasterly facing bowl. It is made up of two halves, the groomed piste and the ungroomed that has Mt Cockayne at the top and Powder Valley. The groomed area is mostly intermediate terrain, there is a small but good learners' area, and plenty of off-piste steeps which can be hiked to. Mt. Cheeseman is located 112km from Christchurch and 41km from Springfield. Season runs early July to early October.

There is chairlift access to the skiing from both sides of the mountain. In Bischofsgrun there are three lifts serving trails with lighting for night skiing, and two with snow-making.
