Location
The Millennium Park is a prominent civic center next to Lake Michigan. The park features a variety of architecture collection, landscape design and art that provide the backdrop for hundreds of free cultural programs including concerts, exhibitions, tours and family activities. The Cloud Gate (more commonly known as private://The Beanprivate://)is a must see site designed by British artist Anish Kapoor. The way the sculpture reflects the city, sky, and passers-by keeps everyone entertained.
The centerpiece of Millennium Park is the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, designed by Frank Gehry. The pavilion has 4,000 fixed seats, plus additional lawn seating for 7,000. It is a Grant Park's outdoor performing arts venue for small events. The Millennium Park also includes the AT&T Plaza (where the Cloud Gate is), the Crown Fountain, the Lurie Garden, the McCormick Tribune Plaza, the Harris Theater, the Wrigley Square and the Boeing Galleries – a pair of outdoor exhibition spaces within Millennium Park, located along the south and north mid-level terraces, above and east of Wrigley Square and the Crown Fountain.
From the Green, Orange, Brown, Pink and Purple Line Express elevated lines, exit at the Madison/Wabash or Randolph/Wabash stations and walk two blocks east.
From the Red and Blue Line subways, exit at Monroe or Washington stations and walk two or three blocks east.
The park is also served by buses 3, 4, 6, 14, 20, 56, 60, 124, 151,157 and 173.
Millennium Park has free admission and is open daily from 6 am to 11 pm.
