Granite Gorge, located on Route 9 on the Keene/Roxbury, N.H., line, offers winter recreation for the whole family. The location was selected in the 1950s when a group of former Olympians went looking for a site in southern New Hampshire. Pinnacle Mountain was selected because of its north face, protection from the wind, and ability to hold snow. Today, the area features downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, tubing, and a terrain park. There is a 1,500-foot base-to-summit double chair. The surrounding area offers various lodging, dining and nightlife options as well.
