The ski resort of Flaine is a specially constructed town, dedicated to skiing. The centre is reserved for pedestrians and close by to your accommodation you'll find everything you need for your holiday: Ski slopes, ski lifts, an array of shops and also leisure areas. Car parking is plentiful and to make things a little easier you are allowed to park your car outside your door for a limited time for loading and unloading baggage. The Grand Massif ski area links the resorts of Flaine, Morillon, Les Carroz, Samoëns and Sixt Fer à Cheval. Situated between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc the area is exceptional offering picture postcard scenery all around. Originally devised by Emile Allais, Flaines ski runs follow the natural contours of the mountain. They provide a wide variety of terrain for skiers, from beginner to expert. Several of the ski runs are also specially designed for beginners. They are accessible by 4 free ski lifts: The Pré drag or chairlift, the Bissac rope tow lift and the yogurt pot style lift in the Flaine Forum. Right from the top of Flaine skiers can discover the 14 km long blue run which follows the perimeter of the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval Nature Reserve. The thrill seekers in Flaine can attempt the “Combe de Gers” which is a steep run offering some wild skiing for those with a little bit of experience.
