The ski area is three miles from the town of Fernie in southeastern British Columbia on the west side of the Canadian Rockies. Known for its inbound steeps, Fernie has been compared to Red Mountain, Alta, Snowbird, Crested Butte, and Jay Peak. It has five alpine bowls that are only partially groomed. For starters, take a complimentary tour to learn your way around this complex mountain.

The prices are the big reason to ski at Great Divide, because they are always far less than their bigger competitors. The snow is well-managed and there is a 1,330 vertical drop.

Cypress is composed of two mountains on Vancouver's north shore of Mt. Strachan and Black Mountain. It can be reached by public transportation. The varied terrain works for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.
