Fairy Falls is a multi-tiered cascade, located in the central part of Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. The falls consist of several tumbling tiers toward the top and a few smaller plunges in between before the final large slanting drop at the base in azure-colored waters.

Getting there: 

Fairy Falls are located 40-50min from Auckland city center with a fairly easy access.

There is a car park on Scenic Drive that serves as a starting point for the walking track. This track is well maintained and takes about 50 mins there and back. The stairs are long.

On the other side of the Fjord from Preikestolen is another breathtaking cliff, Kjerag. Its highest point is 1110 m above sea level, but it is the northern drop to Lysefjorden that attracts most visitors.

Mount Olympus is a 128km drive from Christchurch, via Windwhistle. It is a Club run field in the Cragieburn range set in a wide south facing basin offering a variety of runs on uncrowded slopes.

Mt. Lyford's sunny Terako field, is located 26 km's from Waiau and 60 km's from Hanmer. An ideal family field, Terako is a great learners area with challenging runs for intermediate and advanced skiers.

Nestled high inside the eastern rim of the Southern Alps is Mt. Hutt Ski Area, overlooking the patchwork quilt of the Canterbury Plains with the blue Pacific Ocean in the far distance. Mt.

Mt. Cheeseman is a southeasterly facing bowl. It is made up of two halves, the groomed piste and the ungroomed that has Mt Cockayne at the top and Powder Valley.

Manganui is located on the slopes of Mt. Egmont and is maintained by the Stratford Mountain Club. Access to the ski area is from a sealed road through Beach Forest.

Just over 2 hours from Christchurch, it could be another world away. Hanmer Springs Ski Area is situated on Mt. St. Patrick, and is an easy 40 minutes drive from the alpine thermal holiday resort of Hanmer Springs.
