The City God Temple is a Daoist temple located next to the Yuyan Garden within the old walled city. The temple is around 600 years old and is dedicated to three city gods. It is a popular place to visit during Chinese New Year and the Sanxun festival (a day when the City God start to inspect his people) when people come to the Temple to burn incense and worship the God.

Today the private://City God Templeprivate:// not only refers to the large temple complex, but also the traditional district of commerce in the city, surrounding the temple. There are over a hundred stores and shops in this area, and most of these store buildings are nearly a century old.

Getting there: 

From Yuyuan metro station, take bus 929 to Fuyou road station, from here it is about 510m to reach the temple.

From Nanjing East Road metro station, walk 380 meters to Henan zhong Road and take bus 929 or 66 to Fuxing East Road station, from here it is about 540m to reach the temple.

From small South Gate metro station, take bus 11 to Xinkaihe Road Station, from here it is about 650m to reach the temple.

The temple is open between 8:30AM and 4PM.

The admission fee is RMB 5.
