Location
Outside Asia, this place has the largest Chinese community and is the oldest Chinatown in North America. It is located on Grant Avenue and Stockton Street and is attracting more visitors than the Golden Gate Bridge annually. Coming here feels almost as arriving to China, with temples, pagoda roofs, herbal shops and chinese restaurants surrounding you. Not forgetting the dragon parades and lion dances during Chinese New Year (which usually happens in end of January or February) when the atmosphere here gets even livelier and busier than usual.
The nearest cable -car station is Washington & Mason (near Cable Car Museum) or Powell & California. Walk down a few blocks and you will be in Chinatown.
