Location
Bondi Beach is the most popular beach in Sydney attracting people from all age groups and disciplines every day. Surfers of all skill levels head to Bondi Beach to try out the waves. If you’re a beginner, there are also several excellent surf schools.
In addition to Bondi, nearby Tamarama and Bronte beaches are among some of the best in Sydney. Take the coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee to experience stunning local beaches in a beautiful setting.
The beach is located 7 km, or 20 mins east of the Sydney central business district. Bondi Beach is the end point of the City to Surf Fun Run which is held each year in August. Other annual activities include Flickerfest, Australia's premier international short film festival in January, World Environment Day in June and Sculpture by the Sea in November. In addition to many activities, the Bondi Beach Market is open every Sunday. So there is a lot to do besides swimming and enjoying the sun. You can even attend a New Year`s Party at the beach.
All buses from the city start from Circular Quay and the ride to Bondi Beach takes 45 minutes. The starting point is in Alfred Street, close to ferry wharf number 2 (opposite Customs House and the AMP buildings). The bus may be numbered 380 or 333 with the destination showing North Bondi, Dover Heights, Watsons Bay or Bondi Beach.
