General info:

The Athens Olympic Games Complex includes the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Hall roof, the Olympic Aquatic Center, the sixteen courts of the Olympic Tennis Center and the Olympic Velodrome. You can visit the facilities, take part in a game or just enjoy its majesty. A major boulevard called Central Axis organizes access to the various stadiums.

Unfortunately, most of its facilities were built exclusively for the Olympics Games in 2004 without any predefined plans for their future use. As a result, many of those facilities have been hardly ever used after the Games ended. This seems to be the story of the Olympic sites in general...

Getting there:

Bus:
Use X14 from Syntagma Square in central Athens. It will take you directly to the Olympic Stadium.
Metro:
It is a 25' ride from the city centre (Omonia). Use line 1 and get off at Irini.

Depends on the event running.

After the biggest nuclear catastrophe the world has ever seen, the small city of Pripyat got a nickname ‘the ghost city’. Built in 1970 to serve as a home for Chernobyl nuclear plant workers, this city lived only for 16 years.

Mirny Diamond Mine

Mirny is a small town, with less than 40,000 citizens, but is one of the most famous in Russia. It is fairly remote town, surrounded with cold and wild Siberian forests.
