Sardinia has perhaps the most beautiful beaches in Mediterranean. The water is clear and sand is white basically throughout the Sardinian coast. Here we picked some of the pearls that you should not miss when beach hopping in Sardinia.
Location
Goloritzè
Location
Another candidate as the best beach in Sardinia and indeed one of Italy’s best beaches. The beach has white stones mixed to sand, and it offers an amazing view the Punta Goloritzè peak. Not my favourite and though stunning it is not the best beach in Sardinia.
Cala Mariolu
Location
private://Cala Mariolu overlooks the Gulf of Orosei and it is situated in Punta Ispuligi (Baunei). This beach is serious competition to all of the above and my wife and son actually put it in joint first place, with the splendid Cala Luna, as the best beach in Sardinia. The beach takes its name from the nun seal called private://marioluprivate:// by Sardinian fishermen. The seabed and the beach are lined with pink pebbles and the colour of the water is without doubt even more spectacularly beautiful than any of the other Sardinian beaches or Italian beaches. Photos don’t do it justice and the deep azure blue of the water reminds one more of a swimming pool.
Cala Fuili
Location
Cala Fuili, is located on the coast of Cala Gonone a little before the beach of Cala Luna and the grotte del Bue Marino. Beautiful white sand and limpid blue sea shaded by thick junipers makes this yet another beautiful beach and one of the best beaches in Sardinia. Not, in my view, as stunning as Cala Luna this beach is still exquisite and is easier to reach on foot and by car. The view from the top of the hills around the beach is out of this world.
Cala Luna
Location
private://The best beach in Sardinia? Many think that this is indeed the best beach in Sardinia but this is number two on my list. It is a little difficult to reach, more details as to how to get here further on. The beach is a beautiful 700 meter long half moon crescent (hence the name which means half-moon in Italian)overlooking the Gulf of Orosei. The water is azure and crystal clear –the shallowness of the water means that it is a great place for children. The vibrant marine life, balmy sea temperatures and crystalline waters makes it great for snorkelers and scuba divers. Just behind the beach there are rolling hills covered in lush vegetation.
Bidderosa Beach
Location
private://The beach consists of five pristine coves that form a natural oasis of silver sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. Not only is the beach the best beach in Sardinia but I would rate it as one of the best in the world and that from someone who has been to many of the most beautiful Indian Ocean islands. The whole area is a secluded oasis of great natural beauty – leave behind the stresses of life and feel the worries of the world fall from your shoulders. private://
Baia Chia
Location
Baia Chia with its silky sand, up to 30 meter-high white dunes and crystalline, turquoise-hued water is reminiscent of an idyllic Caribbean beach. The bay is bordered by majestic, age-old junipers and a few stone traces of the Phoenician city of Bithia whose site Baia Chia now occupies. And if it’s your lucky day, you might catch a glimpse of dolphins and, on the lake, flamingos. Chia is also a wonderful venue for windsurfers because the winds blow just the right way. On this lovely bay there is also a nice restaurant, Dune di Campana, where you can enjoy the aromatic Mediterranean maquis.
Spiaggia della Pelosa
Location
Spiaggia della Pelosa is a dreamy crescent of flour-fine white sand and sparkling emerald water in every shade of turquoise and hue of electric blue. The shallow waters in the bay are guarded by an ancient stone watchtower.
It can be pretty busy in summer, so be prepared for traffic jams. The Stintino town nearby is a little port that makes a nice stop for lunch.
Spiaggia del Principe
Location
The beach of the Prince is one of the most beautiful beaches of the whole Costa Smeralda. The name comes from the prince Aga Khan who loved this beach and decided to buy 10km of this shoreline to himself. The sea here does sparkle like a jewel, reflecting in the diamonds and platinum of those who flock to this ‘millionaires’ playground’.
The beach is like a big arch of very fine sand in a rock setting, surrounded by Mediterranean maquis. The enchanting colour and the water clearness are due to the granite depth. The beach is divided in two parts by a big rock that emerges from the shoreline.
